Costa del Sol Espeto Skewer Contest (August 2)

On the beaches of Torremolinos, you can enjoy a 100% local experience: the grand finale of the 11th Costa del Sol Espeto Contest, where the province’s best espeteros (traditional sardine grillers) compete for the title of master fire-roaster.

Held on Playa de la Carihuela from 6:30 PM, the event includes a free espetada popular, where attendees can taste freshly grilled sardines over wood fires, along with background music and side activities.

Noche del Vino in Cómpeta (August 15)

As a gastronomic hotel that celebrates local products, we can’t help but recommend the Noche del Vino (Night of Wine) in Cómpeta—one of the most authentic festivals in the Axarquía region. Recognised as a Festival of Tourist Interest, it blends folklore, food, and music in a festive rural atmosphere.

Taking place in Cómpeta, from 10:00 AM until late at night, you can get there in two ways:

The day kicks off in the Plaza de la Vendimia with a traditional grape-stomping demonstration, accompanied by local fandangos. Around midday, there’s a free countryside lunch featuring migas (fried breadcrumbs), cod, salad, and local moscatel wine—more than 300 litres are served!
